RAHINI - Aur EK Prem Kahani - Innoru Kadhal Kadhai - Episode 1

A bright morning day and Sun has started its duty to shine on the whole Mumbai city at morning around 7 am.

The plot opens with Lord Krishna standing in his position in a home in a puja room. An elderly woman is praying to him with her hands joined and eyes closed.

"Lord Krishna! You certainly know what I am going to ask you! Please fulfill my wishes. Please take care of our family. And make everyone live peacefully"

Th elderly woman takes a puja thaali and starts to perform puja for the deity. She shows aarti and takes it on her eyes. She keeps the puja thaali down near and leaves from there. She enters inside the kitchen and starts to boil milk.

She hears the sound of television. She turns back and smiles. She makes coffee and pours it on a cup and saucer. She takes the coffee and comes to the television. She hands over one coffee cup to an elderly man who is watching the TV. The elderly man gets the coffee from her with his eyes sticking to the TV channel. The elderly woman sits beside him and drinks her coffee.

"What! You are staring at the TV without even blinking your eyes as if she is appearing for the first time "asks the elderly woman with a smile.

"No matter. How many times she comes, she is very special for me. I will watch as many times as she comes" said the elderly man to her. 

"Look at her. How she is speaking on the channel! How much intellectual she is? She discusses all kinds of topics and takes interviews of big giants without any fear. How she has transformed all these years!" exclaimed the elderly man.

"Yeah, I can see. How much of confidence and self respect she has brought up in herself. I really cannot believe how she changed this much. I am really proud of her." Both of them look at a woman, who speaks with another person in the television channel, with smiling face.

"You know what. Yesterday one of our neighbours, when I met him during my morning walk, told me, that our Rahini performed the 'Hindusthan @ afternoon' show very brilliantly. You know how did I feel on hearing this".

"Anyway this is not new for us. We heard everybody praising her many times"

"How she has grown all these years. Yet she never changed. Not even single bit of attitude or head weight possessed her. Had any other one, by this time, would have been fully arrogant. Our Rahini is one in a million"

"Everything is fine except her looks. Why is she dressing up like this? She looks older than her actual age"

"Radha. Don’t you know why her dressing is like this? It is for her safety. Moreover she dresses up like this so that people trust her to be a responsible person. Else how she would have become a super star journalist at this very short age."

"Whatever. I want her to settle in her life soon. For how many days she can live like this. I wish she gets best life and live happily ever. She has faced lots of troubles. Everything should come to an end. I wish daily for the same to that Nanda Kishore. I don't know when he is going show mercy on this girl".

Radha looks sadly at Rahini in tv channel.

"Don't worry. She deserves a life of a princess or even queen. Sure the Almighty will drop her to a right destiny."

"Let everything we wish shall happen soon"

Both of them watch the TV. The woman in the channel is discussing hot topics as argument and with a smile. Radha looks at the clock.

Clock shows 7.30 am.

"Oh. I have to wake up Arjun and make him ready."

Radha collects the coffee cups and leaves.

Radha goes to bedroom and looks at the boy sleeping in the bed.

"Arjun. Wake up. It is time you have to get ready for the school".

Radha collects clothes in the room and tries to wake up the boy.

Arjun opens his eyes and closes again.

"Arjun. I know you woke up. Get up before your mom comes home"

"Five minutes paati". Arjun lies on the bed.

"No five minutes. Arjun is a good boy no? He will wake up soon, brush his tooth, get ready for the school without troubling his paati."

Arjun wakes up in a drowsy mode and sits lazily. Radha makes him get up from the bed and takes him to washroom.

HINDUSTHAN BROADCASTING NETWORK- The neon board glows with full pride of holding highest number of circulation and highest TRP for past six months.

In the studio, Rahini looks at the camera and then talks to the person in front of her.

"Thank you sir for giving your valuable time for us."

Rahini looks at the camera

"Meet you next week same time at VIP Morning. Until then it is Rahini signing off. For more updates stay tuned Hindusthan Live. Thank you"

Cameraman says cut. Rahini and the person get up from their chairs.

"Thank you sir"

Rahini gives hand for handshake. The person does not give his hands to her. He turns away from her and leaves from the place.

Rahini smiles at him. She gets down from the stage and looks at the person going out. Cameraman comes near to her and shows thumbs up. Rahini smiles. She comes out the room and climbs on the stairs. She reaches the office and walks towards a cabin. One young girl stops her.

"Mam. Show was very brilliant and awesome. You were simply fantastic"

Rahini smiles at the girl. "Thank you"

"Mam. You were very bold in expressing your views"

"Thank you"

"Mam, aren't you scared. You are literally creating enemies by your courageous views. Do you think it is good for you? What if that politician guy gives any troubles? You have a family even."

Rahini smiles," We are journalists. We are having the social responsibility of exposing the truth to the world. If we back off, then who is to bell the cat, huh?"

"But mam..."

"Yeah ok, your point taken. I will be careful. Fine?"

Rahini gives a friendly smile to the girl.The young girl smiles.

Rahini goes towards a cabin and opens the door which held the boards "PRAMOD DESAI" and below 'VICE PRESIDENT' followed by another board reading 'EDITOR-IN-CHIEF'.

"May I come in, Sir"

A senior person is looking her and smiles on seeing her.

"Yes. Come in"

"Good Morning sir"

"Very Good Morning. Good show once again"

"Thank you Sir."

"Well Rahini. I called you to discuss about the market data statistics which I received. Actually I am discussing with each and every other department personnel individually about this. I wanted to know why the circulation was low last quarter compared to previous quarter. I expected increase. But not even retained. As a Creative Director of this magazine, I need feedback from you. "

"Sure sir."

"We are still the no.1 but ...”

"A Small Hole Can Sink A Big Ship."

"Absolutely. So, what is your opinion on this?"

"Sir from the market data and the corresponding feedback which I got, I received one point as a common complaint or an improvement suggestion both from readers and our editorial team."

"Yeah, Go ahead"

"From the perception of readers what I would like to say is we still need to provide many interesting stuffs."

"Interesting?" with exclaiming look Mr.Desai asks "What do you mean by that."

 "Sir, when we take our magazine, we provide with many interesting supplements, and many others like topics related to women etc. But we are not covering much news' on entertainment industry which many other magazines do."

"Of course. But this is not an exclusive entertainment magazine. Right?"

"Yes Sir. But not all people watch stock markets. Not all show interest in politics. Men almost seldom pay attention to women stuffs. But men, women, children, old people, young people have a common interest. That is, Spotlight and entertainment"

"I don't understand. What does a celebrity life or film shooting progress has to do with one's life. We have to give something which is benefit to public in their normal life"

"I do not deny that Sir. Our magazine has lots of respect for this reason. However people at one side are also interested to peep into something interesting. We lag behind in this area"

"Are you really sure of this? I don't think so. Just because we provide coverage on film industry you are saying our circulation is going to increase."

"I am not saying we need this alone. May be I got another feedback like we can give some supplements with interesting stuffs. For the past one year the cost of the magazine was increased by 3 rupees. Hence we have provide that much stuff worth for it"

"This one I can surely accept. But still I am not interested in those useless film craps"

Rahini smiles.

"Fine. We shall have a discussion on this sooner. Regarding entertainment coverage, I need to think further on it."

"Sure Sir. But if you give a sign off on this, the whole entertainment department will gear up in full speed. Already team is very enthusiastic and waiting for your green signal."

"Yeah, Let us see"

Rahini leaves from the cabin and moves out. Somebody calls her and say

"Mam, Shoot is scheduled at 12 sharp."

"Yeah, I will be right there."

SAHANA APARTMENTS

Rahini enters the apartment complex and walks in through a stair case. She opens the door and enters inside.

"Arjun, It is getting late. Wear the socks dear" Radha begs the boy.

Rahini looks at both of them and looks at her watch. It shows 8.26 am.

"What is this? Time is up and you have still not worn your shoes."

Rahini goes to Arjun and stares at him. Arjun smiles at her without any fear.

"Good you came. I am struggling with him right from waking him up. I cannot handle him as you do."

"Chitthi, Why are you begging him for everything? You should have given him something at his back if he does not obey you."

"Hey. He is small boy. It is obvious children are naughty at this age. Why would I beat him for this small things"

"Non troubling naughtiness is only allowed. Arjun. Very bad. Only once in a week I leave home early but you are turning those days upside down. It is not a good thing to trouble elders. How many times I told you not?"

Arjun looks at her and smiles sweetly. Rahini also smiles at him.

"You are a good boy no? Come on quickly wear the shoes."

"Ok Amma" Arjun wears his socks' and shoes by himself. Radha looks at him happily and Rahini smiles at him. Rahini takes his bags and grabs his hands.

"Chitthi, I will drop him to the bus stop. Arjun say bye"

"Bye Paatti, Bye Thaatha". Both Radha and Anand waves hands at him. Rahini leaves home along with Arjun.

Rahini and Arjun are walking on road. Arjun walks looking at the surroundings. Rahini smiles and greets at the people who are smiling at her. Arjun looks at this.

A woman stops them on the way

"Rahini mam. It is you. I am very happy to see you here". Rahini smiles at the woman. Arjun also looks at her.

"Mam, You are very elegant and beautiful"

"Thank you."

"And also very brilliant"

"Thank you very much."

The woman screams enthusiastically and Rahini tries to break in her talks.

"Mam, Can I have a photo with you." Rahini thinks for a second then says ok

Rahini and the woman take a photo together in a mobile camera.

"Mam, one more."

"Sorry we got to go. It is getting late for bus"

"Oh sure" Rahini and Arjun leave the place. Another woman looks at Rahini and shows her hands. Rahini also greets her. Arjun looks at all these.

"Amma, Why all people are laughing at you"

Rahini smiles at him and says. "Not laughing they are greeting me. They wanted to greet me and talk to me."

"Why?"

"I am coming on TV daily. They wanted to appreciate me."

"If I come on TV, then people will smile at me like this?"

"Yeah, of course. Why not?"

"Amma, when will I come on TV?"

"Hmm.... After you finish your studies you can also appear on TV."

"Really?"

"Yes. But you should study well, score good marks, get good name from everybody. Then you can also shine. Even more than me"

"Amma, I will be good boy and come on TV one day."

"Sure sweetheart. Now first studies. See bus has come."

Rahini and Arjun stop at the bus stop and a school bus stops there. Arjun gets inside the bus and sits.

Rahini waves hands at him

"Arjun. Finish your lunch fully. Ok?"

"OK Amma. Bye" Arjun and Rahini pass flying kisses to each other. Bus leaves. Rahini stands for a while and then leaves. Rahini walks on the road and many other people smile and greet her.

A girl comes to her and says "Mam. I am your big fan."

Rahini smiles as usual. "Mam, Autograph please."

Rahini looks at the girl and looks at her note. She gets it from her and writes on it and gives it back to her.

"Mam, You are simply awesome and brave. You are really an inspiration for today's women. The way you express your thoughts, the way you pinpoint mistakes without any fear are chance less. I really want to be brave like you. "

Rahini looks at the girl with a sad smile.

"Mam, I am really proud and happy to meet you." Rahini smiles again and leaves.

Rahini walks with thoughts in her mind. she recalls what the girl has said. "Mam, You are simply awesome and brave." She walks sadly with all smiles wiped from her face. She walks silently towards the apartment complex and stops suddenly.

A little girl runs towards the road chasing a ball. Rahini looks at the litle girl and looks at a car coming forward. Rahini sees around for someone but finds none. Neither she found the girl or car slow down.

The girl reaches the middle of the road and car nears the girl in full speed leaving Rahini dumbstruck and shocked.
